What: High Seas Expedition

When: August 2–6, 2010 from 9–11:30am

Where: Mountview Baptist Church

We are preparing to shove away and set sail for our High Seas Adventure this summer to learn all about the love of God that is seen throughout the Bible. We would love to have your sailor join us as they will discover God’s Word and its characteristics. The five main points for the week are:

• God’s Word is true
• God’s Word is comforting
• God’s Word is surprising
• God’s Word is life-changing
• God’s Word is for everyone

Kids will hear stories about John, Peter, and Paul and see how the main points are shown through the lives of these men. These five main points will be taught through Bible time, games, crafts, snacks and short videos to help kids learn in fun, engaging ways. We will also be teaching the kids how to see the evidence of God in everyday life—something we will be referring to as “God sightings.” So be prepared to hear this and also to help your kids see them too!

Registration

Registration and check-in on Monday, August 2, will begin at 8:45am

The ages of kids for registration are 3 years old through fifth grade. Registration is free for all kids and also includes a CD with music from the VBS. An e-mail confirmation will be sent after you have registered with a reminder of times and dates. Don’t forget to order your High Seas Expedition t-shirts, which are available for purchase for $8 online and during registration. On Friday, August 6th from 11:30am–12:30pm there will be a VBS celebration for families.

Service Projects:

Operation Kid-to-Kid
During the week, the kids will be involved in an outreach called Operation Kid-to-Kid where they will be making blankets and sending them, along with coloring books, to kids in Africa. This gives the kids a chance to serve others and to realize that some kids are not so blessed to have the toys, blankets, and families that our kids have.

Kicks for a Cause
We will also be collecting soccer balls and air pumps for Kicks for a Cause. The items collected will be sent to kids in Haiti, who have experienced the loss of practically everything with the earthquake that hit in January. The kids in Haiti love to play soccer and this collection will be a great opportunity to share with those who have lost almost everything.
